Summary: If you thought a take on "Moby Dick" with dragons was crazy, then you haven't seen anything yet. It's common to call a setting transition to space a ridiculous last resort, but you'd be surprised how it can lend itself to interesting premises. After all, how many films do you know where the monsters glide through space like it was water?

History: It is the 22nd century, and according to legend, there is a place known as White Space. It is said to be a realm of great enlightenment and peace, but only one creature is known to live in it. It is a massive guardian named Tianlong. Once, this majestic alien had a mate, but intergalactic whalers killed it, sending the male into a rage that took the lives of many. Among them was the father of a young captain and his brother. Driven by vengeance, the captain returns ten years later to destroy the alien, regardless as to how his crew feels about it.

Final Fate: After being caught up to for the umpteenth time, Tianlong decides to finish the job by eating the captain, and smash right through his ship like it were nothing. Curiously, it opens up a portal through White Space for the lone survivor, escorting her to safety. Then again, more people were killed by each other than anything Tianlong could have achieved.

Powers/Abilities: Tianlong is practically invincible, able to tank everything people throw at him. He also has a few large crustacean-like parasites on him that often drift away and attack where they land. But Tianlong's greatest power is how he can rip open portals in spacetime to enter White Space, and teleport elsewhere in the galaxy.

Weakness: None.

Scariness Factor: 3-You'd expect a colossal squid-like alien dragon that can literally enter the space in-between spaces to be a lot scarier than it is. But there are two issues. One is that the CGI isn’t quite the greatest. Secondly, Tianlong only attacked those who attacked him. Besides, he had good reason to after those people heartlessly murdered his mate. It must be pain to be able to see the entire galaxy...and still be the loneliest creature of them all. Almost poetic...

Trivia: -As discussed in the film, Tianlong is named after the celestial dragon of Chinese mythology. Its name meaning "Divine dragon", it is the beast that guards the heavens. There are some interpretations that the name is shared by multiple dragons.

-The captain's ship is called the Essex, which is the exact name of the ship that the Pequod was based off of.
